***SB fire update*** The ongoing fires in and around Santa Barbara have NOT adversely affected air quality in the Conejo Valley. Cruisin’ the Conejo is very much still ON. Please check the weather link in the lower-right hand corner of this and other cvcbike.org pages for frequent updates on regional air quality.

The start location of this year’s Cruisin the Conejo is at the Skyworks parking lot located at 2504 W. Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks (also known as Newbury Park to the locals).

  1. Hi there:

When I signed up for this, I selected the longer metric. I wish to switch to the full century. Hopefully this isn’t a problem.

Thanks. We’re looking forward to this!

    Alan

  2. Hi Alan,

Not a problem. I’ve switched your registration to the full century.

    See you at Cruisin’.

    David Newman
    CVC webmaster

  3. Just wondering if there is an online map of the metric century ride?

  4. Thanks for the directions by car. Any thought to including suggested directions by bike from the West SFV to save the time and effort of plotting out the route ourselves?

  5. I wanted to sign up on Sat. morning for the full century. No cost info is listed. What is the pricing?

  6. what is cost for metric century

  7. Sorry, CVC cruising policy is not to distribute route maps until Friday pre-registration.

  8. UPDATE: I have just been informed that a $10 late fee applies to all registrations after last Saturday, May 2. Apologies for any inconvenience.

It’s $40 for individual adults; $10 for children aged 9-17; and $60 for tandem pair, all cash-only.

Pricing is the same for all rides.

  9. Are the Santa Barbara fires going to impact the ride on Saturday? I will be traveling from Taft near Bakersfield and I don’t want to make that journey if the ride has to be postponed. Thanks Greg

  10. Hi, I signed up for the century but my group I am riding with decided to do the 62 challenge so I was wondering if you can change me to the 62 challenge

  11. Greg, Santa Barbara is around 50 miles from here, and the air quality in the Conejo Valley has not been adversely affected as I write this. Of course conditions can change at any time; we’re all sending our best wishes to the brave firefighters, and so far we are good here.

  12. Approximately how many rest stops will there be for the metric century rides? I’m trying to determine how much water/gatorade I should bring.

  13. Dear CVC:

Did you get my check? I sent it Saturday afternoon. My phone is 562 900-7800

    Charles Milward

  14. Hi Chris,

The 62-mile metric has three rest stops and a water stop. The 68-mile metric has three rest stops. You should be fine with two water bottles.

  15. David – It may be clear now (Thursday) – but with the winds – how is the actual air quality? Will you be keeping this website up to date?

  16. The air quality is fine now; indeed, the CVC Tuesday and Thursday evening rides went up climbs in the Santa Monica Mountains without incident.

I can’t predict the air quality Saturday morning any better than the weather forecasters can. We have a Weather Underground widget on every page on the cvcbike.org website; I’d encourage you to check there frequently for detailed information about local conditions.

  17. Charles Milward: Yes, you are registered.

  18. What is the earliest someone can register the morning of and hit the road? I am concerned about the heat.

  19. Rhonda, century riders can begin @ 7 and the two metric rides can begin @ 8. Other rides start by 9.

Stay hydrated, and have a great ride!

  20. Hi,
Is it to late to register? How can I get on the list to be reminded about this next year?

    Thank you,
    Alma

  21. Alma, it’s not too late to register! You can do so Friday evening until 7 pm at the Newbury Park Bike Shop or Saturday between 6:30 and 9 am at the start location. Details about both are at http://cvcbike.org/cruisin.

Be sure to give your email address when you register. We’ll contact you when we’re getting ready for future editions of Cruisin’.

  22. Registeration tonite at the bike shop was $50 for individual (the printed ‘$40′ on the paper forms was scratched thru, and handwritten $50 was entered.

Likely to be the same tomorrow am early for the onsite
