The recreational side of the club enjoys riding from 17 to 30
miles or more at a moderate pace on Saturdays and meeting after
rides at Bent on Coffee. Club members also participate in Century
Rides, occasional remote start rides in Ojai, Santa Barbara, and
other locations around Southern California.All Saturday rides leave from the Countrywide parking lot at Hillcrest Drive and Wilbur Road in Thousand Oaks. CVC uses the following color scheme to indicate the level of the recreational rides:
| Purple | Beginner ride | 12-25 miles at 10-12 mph pace |
| Gold | Intermediate ride | 30-40 miles at 14+ mph pace |
| Red | Advanced ride | 40-50 miles at 16+ mph pace |
| Purple | Beginner Ride It's back! Following a series of successful trial rides, we've decided to establish a permanent monthly "Purple Ride" beginning 6 January 2008. Ride announcements and route slips will be made available. RaeLynn Milley has volunteered to be Purple Ride leader until other leader(s) can be established. Ride leader is assisted by two additional experienced riders riding front-back-middle of group. To volunteer to lead purple rides, contact CVC and/or RaeLynn. |
| Gold | Intermediate Ride is every Saturday at 9 a.m. (8:30 April-October). Usual routes are Lake Cruise at 15 mph +/- and Hidden Valley (distance 30-40 miles, some climbing). Best done on a road or hybrid bike. |
| Red | Advanced Rec Rides every Saturday at 9 a.m. (8:30 April-October). Some pace-line work and climbing. Average speed 16-18 mph, distance 40-60 miles. See route list below. Road bikes. |
